My Dearest Ruth:

I read your ‘thank you’ letter to me and was very pleased
that you took the time to write to me (and to call me your ‘auntie”).

I am happy to be known to you as “Auntie Veda.”

Now, here is one more gift for you, dear Ruth.
It is a bracelet that I can no longer put on my wrist by myself.
I would need to have someone’s help.
Maybe you will also need to have your sister, Priscilla,
or your mother help you lock it.

When you wear this bracelet, please remember me in your prayers.

Finally, you will find eight U.S. one dollar bills.
I want to you to keep $2 for yourself and I want you
to give $1 each to your brothers and sisters:

    $1 to Roland

    $1 to Priscilla

    $1 to Abigail

    $1 to Eunice

    $1 to Richard, Jr. and

$1 to baby Rob (give that to your mother for him).

When I was a young woman your age,
I always wanted to have something to give to other people.
This is why I want you to give this gift to them…it’s not from me….its from you.

With much love,

Your Auntie in America

Veda Rackley

Dearest Aunty Veda:

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I am very sorry to hear that you are sick.
May the almighty God be your healer and give you strength
and courage in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I am very grateful for the things you sent and token for me,
and the money was divided amongst my brothers and sisters.
I am very appreciative. Thank you!

May God richly bless you and keep you in good health,
adding many years to your age. I love you and will always keep you in prayers,
And please say Hi to your family, Pastor Rob, and tell them that I love them.

With thanks and prayers,

Ruth K. Wesley
